TWO men accused of trying to kill a man using knives and a pit bull dog will face trial in March.

Niaz Ahmed, 48, and Raj Barsran, 28, both from Crosland Moor, appeared before Leeds Crown Court yesterday.

They are jointly charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Barsran, of College Street, is also charged with intimidating a witness.

Ahmed, of Balmoral Avenue, is also accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Kirklees magistrates were previously told how Dilbir Singh was allegedly attacked with an American pit bull and knives in Swan Lane, Lockwood, in September.

No pleas were entered and both men were further remanded in custody yesterday.

A plea and case management hearing will be held on January 16 and a trial date was set for March 25.

The trial will last at least three days.
