I USUALLY tend to stay away from the traditional takeaway establishment.

Mainly because I feel I could create the same thing at home for much cheaper and much healthier too.

But I ventured over to Pizza Napolena in Brighouse and spent a good few minutes looking through the menu before asking what they would advise.

I was recommended a calzone, or a folding pizza as it is best described.

I went for the vegetarian option stuffed with mozzarella, tomato, mushrooms, peppers, onions, sweetcorn, pineapple and herbs.

My calzone was put in the box before I could get a glimpse and I wasn’t sure exactly what I’d got until I got home and opened it up.

What was inside could have filled a family of four.

I managed only a quarter of my calzone before I gave up.

The pastry was light, crispy and thankfully not too greasy while the filling was incredibly tasty. The mix of ingredients complemented each other and were delicious and also appeared to be fresh, not something I would expect to find in a takeaway.

I also ordered a diet coke in a bid to pretend I wasn’t over-indulging.

The only downside of my calzone was I knew even my quarter was very high in calories – something I felt so guilty about I headed to the gym shortly afterwards.

Pizza Napolena offers a varied menu with more than 80 meals available and there is a good selection of vegetarian options.

They also deliver straight to your door for orders over £7.
