MILAN, Paris, London - and Huddersfield?
Ambitious plans for a Yorkshire Fashion Week have been proposed for next year by Huddersfield ambassador Bill Macbeth.
Mr Macbeth, of The Textile Centre of Excellence, Red Doles Lane, Bradley Mills, wants all universities and colleges in the region to put together a spectacular fashion show.
With the development of Yorkshire Fashion Week local designers and manufacturers would have the chance to show their creative talents.
Mr Macbeth said: "We want to increase the chances of fashion design graduates establishing successful businesses where they don't just design but actually manufacture as well."
He said a gala event, to be held at the end of the fashion week, demonstrating the best of the region's talent, would promote designers to buyers and put the town on the international map for fashion design.
Initial discussions have been successful, as industry and trade representatives have welcomed the idea.
Mr Macbeth said: "Universities and colleges are so far very keen.
"But this will only work if there is a strong partnership between industry and academic partners."
The week is being considered for June or July next year. The Textile Centre of Excellence is appealing to anybody who may be interested in getting involved. Phone 01484 346500.
