PLANS are now being drawn up for the 10th HOST Open Studio Trail across the Kirklees area.

The trail, which will take place on the weekend of September 8 and 9, will give art lovers and members of the general public a fascinating insight into how artists create their work and the environment in which they work.

The organisers of HOST are currently processing entries and hope to exceed numbers of artists taking part in their tenth anniversary.

The event will take place at the same time as the annual Heritage Open Weekend and will celebrate historical properties being used as venues.

Approximately 30 locations across Huddersfield and Kirklees will be offering the opportunity to take a glimpse into the world of artists and their work.

Categories include ceramics, digital, installation, jewellery, mixed medium, painting, photography, printing, sculpture, textiles and wood.

Venues for HOST are situated across Huddersfield and Kirklees including the Lawrence Batley Theatre, West Yorkshire Print Workshop, local museums and artists’ own studios.

Workshops and demonstrations will be held at the venues giving the opportunity for hands-on experience to those involved.

Andrew Warburton, co-organiser of HOST, said: “This annual event offers a superb opportunity for the general public and art lovers alike to enjoy the talents on offer in our area, and invest in art made locally.

“We have a fantastic mix of artists this year ensuring we offer something for everybody in HOST.”
