PLANS have been submitted for a holiday village in Marsden.
The new development, which would consist of six to eight cottages and an indoor swimming pool, would be located on Crow Hill.
The village would be a holiday spot targeted at walkers and their families.
Michael Clynch, who is acting as agent for the application for outline planning permission, said it would be a high-quality development.
He added: "There is a real shortage of this type of accommodation in the Colne Valley."
Mr Clynch added: "In Marsden there are one or two hotels which are catering for a different part of the market.
"Typically they would only be catering for weekend visitors where we would be looking in weekly terms."
Site owner Eve Wood said a stable block had been converted to a three-bedroomed cottage earlier this year.
"We have had a fabulous response," she said. "The demand is out there. Within a week it was booked up for November and a week later it was booked up for December and well into 2006.
"Kirklees Council has inspected the cottage and given it five stars.
"We would look for all the other cottages to be of the same standard."
Mrs Wood, a mum of three who has lived in Marsden for 11 years, said the development would not attract yobs.
She added: "Our market would be couples and families. We live here so the development would have to be in keeping with the area - we don't want to affect anyone's quality of life.
"People would be coming here and spending in the village shops, pubs and restaurants.
"It would be good for the village."
