GARDENERS will be out in force at the weekend grabbing plant bargains.

Preparations are well under way for this year's summer plant sale in New Street in Huddersfield town centre on Saturday..

David Wyles, town centre manager said this year's event would be repeating the partnership with the National Trust.

And he said there would be more stalls available to meet the growing demand from nurseries all over the country who found the event a good outlet for their plants.

David Finnis, property manager for the National Trust's Marsden Moor Estate said volunteers had been tending plants for some time and they were looking forward to another bumper sale.

"It should once again raise very valuable funds for our vital conservation work on the moor," he said.

Hundreds of extra visitors flocked into the town for last year's event.

And it is hoped to repeat that success this year from 9am to 4pm.
