A CROSLAND Moor playgroup is celebrating after receiving a top rating from education watchdogs.

St Barnabas Playgroup, at Church Avenue, was handed a `good' rating following an Ofsted inspection visit on October 14.

The inspector's report praised the school, saying it provided good quality care in a warm, welcoming environment.

Chairman of St Barnabas Playgroup Canon Michael Storey, who is pictured with children and staff, said everyone was delighted.

He said: "At the moment we have 18 children with us, but following the inspection we can now have 22 because of extra facilities we have created.

"The good feedback is all thanks to the staff. They are excellent and very committed. They work long hours, they come in early and go late and you can sense the warm welcoming atmosphere which they create."
