A CHARITY is appealing for energetic Huddersfield people to tackle a triple challenge.

Heart Research, which funds studies into heart disease, wants people to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on June 19.

The event will see walkers climb 694m-high Pen-y-ghent, 736m-high Whernside and 723m- high Ingleborough.

The supervised trek will cover 26 miles. The target time to finish the challenge is 12 hours but inexperienced walkers can opt to tackle just one or two of the peaks.

The challenge has been organised by Heart Research for seven years.

Last year, £60,000 was raised by 500 walkers.

Heart Research is funding a project to develop artificial heart muscle at Leeds University.
