A CARE worker has asked for a swing band to help with a fundraising nostalgia day.

Vicki Hayley, activities coordinator at Aden Court Care Home in Moldgreen, is organising a 1940s day.

She said: “The dining room will be decorated in period style, with memorabilia and photos of some of our clients during wartime.

“We’ll also be showing old films and serving traditional food and the staff will be getting dressed up.

“But we would like to bring in a swing band to make the day complete. I hope a group will come forward; our residents would really enjoy it.”

Family, friends and members of the public have been invited to the fund-raising event on Sunday, September 1.

Vicki hopes the money raised will pay for a £1,400 Kirton chair for one of the home’s 40 residents.

She explained: “It’s a special bed that rises up to become a chair.

“It would allow one of our bed-bound clients to socialise with residents in the day room. There’s no quality of life if you’re in bed all day.”
