A CALL for more speed humps in Paddock has been made following an accident in which a driver was badly hurt.

Mother-of-two Mrs Tahira Afzal, who lives in Heaton Road, says action should be taken before someone is killed.

"I live on the bend and have had to call the police and ambulance so many times in the three years I have lived here," said Mrs Afzal.

"This road is used as a short-cut by parents dropping their children at nearby schools and is regularly grid-locked.

"The speed humps in Church Street need to be extended to get traffic to slow down."

Last Thursday two vehicles crashed head-on on the bend in Heaton Road leaving one driver badly hurt.

He had to be cut free by firefighters.

Mrs Afzal said she had contacted Kirklees Highways and would be contacting her local councillor asking for action.

Last week it was confirmed that highways staff are to carry out more work in paddock to improve road safety.

The existing cobbled road humps in Church Street are to be replaced by safer humps.

And other measures will be taken by Kirklees Council.
