A DOG rescued from a canal needs a good home.
Two boys found the elderly labrador/Staffordshire crossbred floundering in a reed bed in Huddersfield Narrow Canal on Christmas Eve.
They took the bedraggled dog to Donaldsons vets at Aspley.
Annette Day, a receptionist there, said: "We don't know whether the dog had been dumped in the canal or had fallen in.
"He was thin, so he may have been roaming around for a while."
She said the dog had fully recovered from its ordeal and was in better condition after being fed and cleaned up.
"He is an elderly dog and very good-natured," said Annette.
"But he has no collar and has not been microchipped.
"We would like to trace the owner - or someone who can offer him a good home."
