Jetting off to sun, sand and music to start a career may seem an impossible dream.

But that has not stopped one plucky young Mirfield woman, who has turned her grand ambition into reality by landing a top job in Ibiza.

Hattie Scanlan, 24, is now living the life on the Spanish party island, where she has become a PR manager for top dance events organiser Hed Kandi, which puts on over 1,000 events each year and releases albums.

And now she wants to help others follow a similar path, by encouraging them to apply as a Hed Kandi representative this summer.

It was a brave but successful move for Hattie, who left the house she shared with her parents in Mirfield two years ago, from where she had been working as a freelance photographer since finishing her studies at Silcoates School in Wakefield.

She decided to travel to Ibiza, where she found work as a club promoter and quickly made her way up to her current position.

She said: “I didn’t go to university – I knew I wanted to jump in the deep end and start work in a field where I could excel in and learn that way.

“None of the courses I researched really interested me and I don’t think they could have taught me the things I have learnt by moving abroad.

“I was so excited about embarking on a new adventure somewhere new and a having a fresh start, although it was sad leaving my family because my brother had just had a baby girl and I didn’t want to miss out on her growing up.

“My family didn’t live too far from each other in comparison to moving to Spain and that’s what I really miss but I still keep in touch with my friends at home.

“I have never had a job that gives you so much satisfaction from watching your hard work pay off right in front of your eyes.

“Working in a fast paced environment, analysing your competitors constantly, being an exceptional brand representative at all times and constantly thinking what Hed Kandi can do next takes me and my team to the next level every single day.

A Hed Kandi night in Ibiza

“Coming to Ibiza is the best decision I ever made.”

Hattie is looking for a team of 30 people to work in Ibiza for Hed Kandi, which is the younger sister of entertainment business Ministry of Sound, from four weeks to the whole of summer .

She said: “We have some unbelievable surprises in store for Ibiza 2015 and I’m looking for the ultimate team of Hed Kandi representative’s to be a part of it.

“It can often be difficult for young people looking for seasonal work on the party islands to find employment with a safe and reputable brand. HedKandi applicants will not only be promoting the most prominent events on the island, but if they impress, there’s also a chance to get a foot in the door with the world’s largest independent music company, Ministry of Sound.”
