Police are appealing for two men to come forward following suspicious circumstances at a moorland reservoir between Holmfirth and Greenfield.

At around 1am on Sunday police were called to the report at Dovestone Reservoir off Greenfield Road.

Earlier that evening two men were seen in a car close to the boating house and were overheard men discussing ‘dumping’ something in the water.

Officers attended and found items of baby clothing in the water. The underwater team conducted an extensive search of the area but nothing was found.

Det Insp Lewis Hughes: “We were initially contacted by concerned members of the public and a search of the area was conducted soon after.

“Although nothing was found underwater, we did discover items of baby clothing which is a concern to us.

“I would ask the two men, who are described as Asian, to contact us as soon as possible so we firstly know no-one has come to harm and, secondly, what has been discarded.

“I would also appeal to anyone else who may have seen two men in a Silver Toyota with a partial registration of BF04 at around 11.15 on Saturday 30 May 2015 to call us as soon as possible.”
