A MAN arrested after police found a drugs factory at a Huddersfield pub has been released on bail.

Police arrested the 59-year-old man on suspicion of permitting the production of a controlled drug at the Waggon and Horses pub in Hillhouse.

On Wednesday lunchtime police got a shock when Huddersfield fire crews asked them to help with traffic control and they found a small cannabis factory above the pub.

Police say the fire, which gutted the pub, is not being treated as suspicious.

Yorkshire Electricity Distribution staff were called out at teatime to check on the wiring safety in an upstairs room.

It is understood that an electrical fault may have triggered the blaze.
