Police were called to fracas in Huddersfield - at a children’s play centre.

And it ended with a man in hospital with serious injuries and a woman arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The 32-year-old woman remained in custody today as detectives appealed for witnesses.

Officers were called out at 4pm yesterday to reports of a disturbance outside the Playworld Centre in Westbourne Road, Marsh.

The firm opened in the former Lodges supermarket.

They found an injured 33-year-old man who was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with what is thought to be a broken wrist.

Det Insp Andy Leonard, of Huddersfield CID. said: “We are trying to piece together exactly what has happened but it seems the man was injured in the Playcentre car park when he was hit by a car which drove off.

“We have traced the vehicle involved, a black Vauxhall Meriva, and a woman has been arrested.

“From information we have gathered from people at the scene we believe there was an original altercation inside the playcentre involving two women.

“The incident spilled over into the car park and two families were involved.

“I believe a large number of people possibly witnesses what happened and I would urge them to come forward”.
