Detectives are continuing to investigate a horror crash which claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.

Emergency crews were called to the A637 Barnsley Road near Flockton village at 6.42am on Wednesday after a Citroen C4 and a Vauxhall Insignia estate crashed head-on.

The Citroen overturned and careered into a field. The driver was cut free but was pronounced dead. He has not been named.

Police later said a Peugeot van had also been involved and the driver had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The van driver was later released on bail pending further inquiries.

West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision and Enquiry Team has appealed for witnesses to contact them on 101.
