A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a gun was fired through the window of a Huddersfield house.

And a court was told that police are still hunting the gun.

Kym Walter, of Leeds Road, was before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court in custody this morning.

He is accused of the attempted murder of Andrew Hall at his address in Springbank Road.

Police were called to the Bradley Mills address at 1.38am on Saturday.

A firearm was discharged through a window of the property.

Walter, 25, also faces charges of possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, production of cannabis and abstraction of electricity.

District Judge Michael Fanning, sitting at the Huddersfield court, was told that the gun allegedly used has not yet been found.

While police were investigating the case they allegedly found cannabis worth several thousand pounds growing in the cellar of Walter’s property.

Walter, dressed in a light grey jumper with dark trousers, spoke only to confirm his personal details at the five-minute hearing.

Judge Fanning sent his case to Leeds Crown Court.

Walter will first appear there on October 27 and was remanded in custody.
