A BIG search was mounted for a missing man in Holmfirth.

He was found and taken to hospital for treatment.

Police combed farmland, woodland and farm buildings around Cartworth Moor on Monday evening.

They were alerted by family of the man and found a car abandoned on Cartworth Moor Road shortly after 6pm.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called in and landed in fields at Cartworth Moor, but the man was taken to hospital by a land ambulance.

Members of the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team were also put on standby but the man was found about 6.45pm.

A police spokesman said: “We had reports of a missing man and mounted a search. He was found in Holmfirth and taken to hospital.”
