A gang of armed men forced their way into a house in Ravensthorpe and attacked a man.

The attempt robbery happened at 6.30pm in Bradbury Street when the six or seven thugs pushed a man in the house backwards.

He was then hit in the face causing swelling and bruising.

Two members of the group were armed - one with a kitchen knife, the other with a metal bar.

The group then left the house without taking anything.

Some of them went down a ginnel and the rest got into a black coloured Volkswagen Beetle which made off in the direction of North Road.

One of the men officers want to speak to in connection with the incident, is described as 25 years old, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and wearing a cotton dark-coloured hooded top with the hood pulled over the face. He was dark skinned, possibly black.

A second man was aged 25, 6ft tall, of stocky build and wearing a grey coloured hooded top (hood up).

He had an upturned nose and was carrying a knife. He was white.

A third man is described as white, aged in his mid-20s, 6ft tall, of stocky build and wearing a dark coloured hooded top. He was holding a metal bar.

Det Con Richard Brooke of Kirklees CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnesses this or saw a large group of men acting suspiciously around this time to get in contact. Call CID on 101.”
