TWO conmen are thought to be targeting the elderly in Huddersfield.

Police are investigating an incident last Wednesday, when an 84-year-old women in Elder Road, Bradley, agreed to let two men, who had knocked on her door, cut her hedge for £1.50.

But after they finished they demanded £150.

The women refused and finally the pair left.

Pc Dave McSweeney said: "Everyone - especially the elderly - needs to be aware that if people knock on the door and offer services they should be careful.

"The best advice is not to accept an offer of work from people who turn up on your doorstep."

Both men were white.

The first was in his 20s, with short, fair hair and a thin face.

The second was in his 40s and of medium build.
