An armed robber held up a travel agent's shop in Cleckheaton.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the robbery at the Bradford Road shop on February 27.

At 4:50pm a man armed with what is believed to be a knife, entered the premises and demanded cash which was handed over the counter by the assistant.

He is described as a white man, possibly aged in his 30s, around 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall, wearing an all black top and grey/white tracksuit bottoms.

DC John Wallace of Dewsbury CID is investigating the incident and said:

“The two employees in the travel agent were not injured during the incident, but were understandably shaken.

“The suspect made away from the store on foot, carrying a red money bag which contained a substantial amount of cash.

“We have made a number of enquiries since this incident and I am now calling on the public for further assistance in tracing the individual responsible.

“I would ask any witnesses or anyone with information come forward immediately via the non emergency number 101 or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
