WEST Yorkshire detectives investigating "despicable" sex attacks on two young girls say they could be looking for a serial sex attacker with other victims who may not have come forward yet.

The girls aged 12 and 13 were approached on the same road in separate incidents by a man in a silver car who asked them for directions before asking them to get into the car to show him the way. The sex attacks then took place in his car.

Police say similarities between the incidents lead them to believe they are looking for the same man and that he may have committed other attacks.

They have released a computer-generated image of the suspect, who could come from anywhere in West Yorkshire.

Det Supt Steve Fear, who is leading the investigation, said: "We had so many similarities we couldn't ignore it. It's very likely we've got the start of something by the same person.

"The first one happened in August 2003, the second one happened on December 31, 2004 - that's 16 months apart.

"What we want to do now is appeal for anyone else who may have been approached in a similar way to come forward."

Mr Fear said officers had been working very closely with the victims of the attacks he described as "nasty and despicable".

The attacker is white and in his 30s with a large build, fat face and dimpled cheeks.

He has short brown hair with sideburns and either a gap or a silver bottom tooth.
