Police have made a renewed appeal for information after a 19-year-old girl was attacked at Greenhead Park.

The teenager was approached by a man who hit her in the face in a “hammering” motion with a silver object, possibly a knife, several times.

The incident happened between 6.30pm and 6.45pm on Thursday, April 7, when she was approached by a male suspect and attacked for no obvious reason.

The teenager was taken to hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a black man, in his mid to late 20s, 5ft 9ins, of slim build and with a shaved head.

He spoke with an American accent and was wearing a black T-shirt, burgundy scarf, baggy light blue jeans and black Nike TN trainers.

Det Con Andy Clayton of Huddersfield CID, said: “We are appealing to the public for any information about the suspect who attacked this young woman in Greenhead Park.

“Thankfully she sustained minor injuries, but was extremely distressed by the incident.

“Anyone with any information, or saw anyone of this description in the area, is asked to contact myself via 101 quoting reference 13160149379 or alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
