Police name victim of Deighton train death

Inquest set to open on 22-year-old Atila Szedlar

A man who died after being hit by a train close to Deighton railway station has been named.

He was 22-year-old Attila Szedlar of Halifax Old Road, Birkby.

An inquest was opened and adjourned into his death at Bradford Coroners’ Court.

Emergency services including police and ambulance paramedics were called to the station at 8.25am on Wednesday, January 13.

British Transport Police officers were called to the station following reports of a person being struck by a train.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rail services on the line between Huddersfield and Leeds were disrupted for about two hours after the tragedy.
