A police search of an area of woodland is being carried out this morning in Netherton to locate a missing man.

Officers are keen to trace 41-year-old Robert Carter who has not been seen since last night.

He left his home in Bourn Vue Road, Netherton, at 7.10pm last night and was believed to be heading for the woods.

Det Sgt James Bellhouse, of the Kirklees Safeguarding Unit, said: “We are very concerned for Robert and would like to speak to anyone who has seen him or who has any information about his whereabouts.”

Robert is described as white, 5ft 9in tall, bald, of medium build and was wearing a blue polo shirt, a dark blue hooded top with white stripes on the arm, green three-quarter length shorts and black walking boots.

He also has a Celtic band tattoo on his upper right arm.
