POLICE are today questioning a youth after seizing drugs they believe to be crack cocaine in Moldgreen.

The 17-year-old from Dalton was arrested on Wakefield Road at 6.40pm last night after police stopped a car.

Police found the suspected drugs with a street value of £2,500 along with another substance.

All have been sent off for forensic examination.

The youth was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply. He was being quizzed at Huddersfield police station today.

Det Sgt Ian Devey, of Kirkless District Drugs Team, said: "If these items do prove to be class A drugs then this will demonstrate some excellent policing. On this occasion officers have acted on instinct. However, this is not always possible.

"I would urge anyone who is aware of suspected drug dealing to get in touch.

"We are aware that some people do not feel comfortable calling the police direct for a number of reasons and for these people we have the Dob in a Dealer campaign."

Dob in a Dealer is an anonymous hotline which allows people to provide information by calling Crimestoppers

on 0800 555 111.
