POLICE are cracking down to curb anti- social behaviour in Batley Carr.

The clampdown comes after youths have made people's lives a misery.

The main problems have been in Hunza Court, and the Halifax Road, Hope Street and Stonefields areas.

The trouble has included vandalism, threatening behaviour and generally unacceptable anti-social behaviour.

Community beat officer Pc Mick Davis said officers were fighting back.

"We have been working with Sadeh Lok, the local housing association, in order to combat the problem," he said.

"We have had an issue over recent months with gangs of youths congregating in the area and threatening local people who live there. This is not acceptable and we aim to put a stop to it."

Anyone with any information about the yobs should contact Pc Davis on 01924 431159 or the division's community-orientated problem- solving team on 01924 421065.
