Police have appealed to crime victims in Meltham: “Tell us what happened."
The unusual response came after social media posts about a series of incidents in the village.
Police have issued a description of the man and have appealed for information.
Details of that and other incidents have appeared on a Facebook page called Stop Meltham Crime but police have admitted they need help.

A police spokesman said: “We are aware of a Facebook page which has been set up regarding crime in the Meltham area. There have been some incidents reported to us where a suspicious man has either been seen hanging around the area or has tried to grab a female. These reports have been attended and investigated as best we can with the evidence available.
“From looking at the Facebook page, it is clear that there have been other incidents which have not been reported to us. We have come under some criticism for ‘not turning up’ or ‘not doing anything’ but unless we are informed about incidents, we can’t investigate what we don’t know about.
“Please tell us about incidents and we can respond and investigate. You may think it is ‘something and nothing’ or ‘the police won’t be interested’ but it could be the missing piece of the jigsaw we need.”
