POLICE Authority members and staff will be joining revellers at Pride events across West Yorkshire over the coming weeks.

The West Yorkshire Police Authority representatives will have stalls at the Pride events.

This includes Huddersfield’s Pink Picnic on Sunday, to find out what the public think of the police in the county.

Clr Andrew Marchington, of Golcar, who chairs the Authority’s Local Policing Committee which oversees consultation, said:

“The Pride events are a fantastic opportunity for staff and members to come out and talk to people in a more informal setting than our usual public meetings.

“As well as collecting local policing priorities, this year we are asking everyone to tell us their views of the police, comment on any recent contact with police officers and say if they’ve heard about the plans to replace police authorities with directly elected police and crime commissioners.

“The feedback that we bring back from these events is great and helps ensure that the public has a real say in our decision-making and day-to-day scrutiny of the force.”
