CONCERNED relatives of a woman whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase in the garage of her Holmfirth home had called police three weeks before, an inquest heard.

Mother-of-two Marie Stewart, 30, was found dead at Perseverance Place on February 13.

But at the opening of the inquest into her death in Bradford today, coroner Roger Whittaker heard her family had first contacted the police on January 23.

Coroner's officer Fiona Turner said: "Her family contacted the police raising concerns that she hadn't been seen for some time."

The inquest heard her partner, Andrew Lindo, had claimed he had last seen her on December 21.

Officers visited the house but found nothing untoward.

Miss Stewart's family made a further call to police on February 12, after which a search of the property was carried out and the body found.

She had been repeatedly stabbed and suffered "blunt force trauma".

Lindo, 28, has been charged with murdering Miss Stewart.

He has admitted killing her, and has said he will plead guilty to manslaughter, but has denied her murder.

He is due to stand trial later this year.
