A FORMER sports centre manager has been jailed - after sex with a teenage girl.

And detectives also uncovered a hoard of porn when they raided Stephen Turner's Waterloo home.

Turner, who had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl, has been jailed for a total of 21 months.

Bradford Crown Court heard that Turner, who was then aged 24, had consensual sex with the girl on two occasions before she was confronted about their relationship by her mother.

During the police investigation officers seized a computer tower and lap-top from Turner and when they were examined it was discovered that he had downloaded nearly 1,000 indecent images of children from the internet. Turner, now aged 25, was jailed for six months after he pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual activity with a girl under 16. But the Honorary Recorder of Bradford Judge Stephen Gullick sentenced him to a further 15 months in respect of possessing indecent images of youngsters, which he also admitted.

Turner, who had no previous convictions, was also banned from working with under-16s indefinitely and he will also have to register as a sex offender with the police for the next 10 years.

The court heard that the teenage complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, first met Turner when he was working as a lifeguard at Holmfirth swimming pool and started a relationship with him when she was 14.

Prosecutor Ewan McLachlan said after Turner was promoted to acting duty manager at Huddersfield sports centre and they texted each other on a daily basis.

Their consensual relationship progressed to kissing and touching and they also performed sex acts on each other while Turner was working back at the swimming pool.

But Mr McLachlan said Turner's texts became more explicit and they first had unprotected sex at his home in Mountfied Road, Waterloo, Huddersfield, in July 2005.

Kirklees Active Leisure, which runs the council-owned sports centres and swimming pools, confirmed that a member of staff at Huddersfield Sports Centre was suspended in October 2005.
