LABOUR leader Clr Mehboob Khan attacked a "callous" spending cut which could "see poorer children being bullied".

Clr Mehboob Khan slammed a decision to cut school uniform vouchers for 8,000 children in Kirklees as "penny-pinching". The cut saved £330,000. A Labour motion warned that children unable to afford new uniforms would be subject to bullying .

Green leader Andrew Cooper, who was in power when the cut was made, defended the move and the motion was defeated.
