Usually it is just a football manager who gets to sell their players.
But yesterday two Town players went up for sale - albeit signed portraits of the strikers.
Artist Caro Ward kindly donated her portraits of James Vaughan and Nahki Wells.
And they went under the hammer recently at a charity auction, raising £600 in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Both were bought by one bidder.
Town new boy Nahki Wells who joined the club in January and star striker James Vaughan were an obvious choice . Caro said: “I donated a painting a few years ago and was approached by the organisers again this year. They are drawn from photos and made with charcoal. The photo’s were taken as they celebrated scoring goals so they are action shots. I think they are both away pictures because you can’t see the stripes on the shirts.
“I usually specialise in Equine art so this was the first football players I had captured.”
The portraits went under the hammer as part of a Valentine’s Charity Ball at Bagden Hall on Friday.
