ROYAL MAIL has beaten its delivery target in Huddersfield.

Some 93.5% of first class mail was delivered the next day after posting between April and September.

The target had been set at 93%.

Across the UK the company exceeded its second class mail and standard retail parcels quality targets in the first half of the year with the vast majority of all mail delivered on or ahead of target, with 98.6% reaching an address within three working days of posting.

The strong performances by Royal Mail’s postmen and postwomen in the HD (Huddersfield) postcode area came as the company continues its huge modernisation programme.

New technology and better equipment is being introduced and working practices are changing.

Steve McGuiness, Royal Mail Delivery Director, said: “We are extremely pleased that we are delivering a high quality service for our customers. It’s down to our local postmen and women, out on their routes six days a week, who are determined to deliver the best possible service to our customers.”
