A power failure hit tonight’s Huddersfield Giants’ play-off showdown with Catalan Dragons at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Sky-televised clash, due to start at 8pm, was thrown into chaos when the electricity went off at 6.30pm.

A generator restored some power and two of the four floodlights were working. Fans were prevented from going in earlier because turnstiles would not operate.

However, both teams agreed that the game could go ahead as planned. Fans were told to enter the ground via the Britannia Rescue Stand.
