A NURSERY is growing thousands of festive flowers for Christmas displays in schools, council offices and town halls across Kirklees.

Bradley Nurseries on Leeds Road, Bradley has nurtured over 2,000 poinsettias for use at concerts, conferences and other public meetings.

A sea of the brilliant-red flowers has been grown in preparation for the festive season.

The nursery also grows white, pink and marble versions of the popular plant which will brighten public buildings until spring.

Nursery manager Paul Marshall, pictured, said: "Flowers lift the spirit of people.

"At an indoor concert they're the cream on top of the cake.

"I find flowers make people smile. They can go about their business with more purpose.

"If you put flowers outside a shop it makes people spend more money! They help people enjoy life more, especially in the dark days of Christmas."
