A PREGNANT woman was punched by a gang of muggers in Bradley.

The 19-year-old, who is 38 weeks pregnant, was hit and pushed into a garden as the gang struck in Stainton Crescent last night.

The woman was on her way home from a takeaway shop at 11.15pm with a 36-year-old man when they were attacked.

Det Con Russ Conlon said: "The woman is obviously pregnant and this was a particularly nasty attack.

"We want to hear from anyone who can help us find these thugs".

The man suffered a cut eye as he was punched, pushed into a garden and kicked repeatedly.

The muggers fled with just a pouch full of tobacco.

Police are hunting three youths. Two were said to be of mixed race and aged between 16 and 20. One wore a black jacket and the other had dark sports clothing. The third attacker was aged between 15 and 20 with dark clothing and a blue or grey woollen hat.

Police are also investigating a handbag snatch in nearby Brooklands, Bradley, just minutes earlier.

The 49-year-old Bradley woman had her black handbag containing cash, gift vouchers and a Nokia phone stolen. She was unhurt.

The robber, who fled towards Priory Place, wore a dark hooded top and trousers.

Police want witnesses to call them on 01484 436714 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
