A NEW hotel is open for business in Huddersfield.

Leisure group Whitbread has opened the new Premier Inn alongside its existing restaurant at Aspley.

Fifteen jobs have been created with the development – while Whitbread estimates that business generated by the hotel will inject about £20m a year into the Huddersfield economy.

The hotel at St Andrew’s Road has 34 bedrooms – but is due to be extended in the next few weeks to provide an extra 18 rooms.

Each bedroom caters for up to two adults and two children and includes en-suite bathroom with shower and bath; a king-sized bed; remote control TV with Freeview; tea and coffee making facilities and a desk area with Wifi internet access.

Premier Inn has more than 590 hotels in the UK, including one at Ainley Top.

Whitbread also owns the Costa Coffee chain and restaurant brands Beefeater and Brewer’s Fayre.
