A MAN has appeared in court accused of threatening pub staff with a pool cue after they refused to serve him.

Stephen Turton, of Wood Terrace in Primrose Hill, was before Kirklees magistrates.

He faces charges of assault, affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Paul Ramsay, prosecuting, said that the incidents took place at two pubs in Heckmondwike.

He said that on October 22 Turton entered the Queen Hotel.

The 26-year-old allegedly assaulted the landlord after he refused to serve him more drink.

Mr Ramsay said that Turton then moved on to the Red Lion pub.

There he is alleged to have picked up a pool cue and threatened staff after they refused to serve him.

Turton gave no indication as to what his pleas will be.

Magistrates told him that his case will be dealt with by Leeds Crown Court.

He will appear back in the Huddersfield court on January 8 for his committal to take place.

Turton is banned from entering any licensed premises in Heckmondwike as part of his bail conditions.
