UNION members are to stage a Budget day protest rally in Huddersfield.

It will be on the theme “Austerity isn’t Working” and will include speakers from Kirklees Unison, PCS and Unite.

The rally is on Wednesday, between 12.30 and 1.30pm in the Market Place.

Bob Stoker, secretary of the Huddersfield TUC, said: “Huddersfield trade unionists, campaigners and others are preparing a protest in Huddersfield on Wednesday.

“That day is Budget day – when Tory Chancellor George Osborne will unveil yet more attacks on working people.

“They have waged war on workers’ jobs, pay, pensions and conditions. And they are driving through privatisation in services. But people are fighting back.

“Austerity isn’t just unfair and unnecessary – it isn't working. Britain will better off with an alternative: jobs, growth, justice.”
