A MUSIC and dance event will be held at Deighton to celebrate Huddersfield's young talent.

Sugabrown Creative Arts will stage the event at the Deighton Centre tonight.

The event - entitled Proud To Be Young - is the fourth of its kind to be held by Sugabrown.

The group, which was set up four years ago, teaches urban street dance and drama to young people in Kirklees and Calderdale.

Pupils from Sugabrown's classes in Huddersfield and Ridings School in Halifax will dance at the event.

Sugabrown's routines have been choreographed by artistic director Lynzi Brown and two other team members, Tameka Thomas and Adeela Baig, who has brought Asian bhangra influences to the dancers.

Also performing will be invited dancers and singers from Huddersfield arts group Bly Productions and Connected2 - a Huddersfield organisation which uses the arts to encourage socially- excluded youngsters into education.

In total, around 150 young people will be taking to the stage.
