A HUDDERSFIELD pub has raised more than £4,000 for two local charities.

The Stag at Waterloo held raffles and race nights throughout 2003 to raise £4,050.

They split the cash between Dalton-based Kirkwood Hospice and Longley Riding for the Disabled.

The hospice received £2,000 while the RDA got £2,050.

The Stag has been raising cash for local charities for 14 years.

Every year, the hospice gets half the proceeds, while another local charity is picked to benefit from the other half.

Stagg landlord Charlie Kidd said: "We chose RDA this year because Aisling is one of our customer's daughters and she attends the riding school.

"We always help local charities and normally raise at least £1,800 per charity.

"It has been superb this year and as always we have great support from local people and our regulars."
