COMMUNITY safety worries are to be discussed in Mirfield.

They will be debated at the next meeting of Kirklees Council’s Mirfield Area Committee.

This will be next Monday at Christ the King Church, Stocksbank Road, starting at 7pm.

The meeting will also feature the committee's priorities for the coming year.

Both council and police representatives will give the latest information on community safety work and tell how everyone can work together to further improve Mirfield.

Priorities for action will include the following subjects: children and young people, the environment and safer communities.

The area committee last year approved spending of more than £125,000 on projects.

These included footpath improvements and leaflets, a police-led scheme against anti-social behaviour and the Battyeford Sports Club base, which is just starting to be built.
