THESE pupils of Rastrick Independent School have proved they are top of the form when it comes to their sums.

They took part in the National Mathematical Challenge, run by the Mathematical Association.

It is a test paper that can only be taken by children in the top 10% ability level in the country.

Children from years five and six did the test at the school. This year, three of the pupils gained gold awards, five gained silver and three were awarded bronze.

One of the pupils, Laura Hall, 10, qualified to take part in the Yorkshire area finals in February.

Head teacher Susan Vaughey said: "It's a big achievement for all the pupils.

"It is a difficult challenge which can only be tackled by those in top ability sets."
