COLNE Valley High School came second in the regional final of Young Consumer of the Year 2004.

The team of four 14- to 17-year-olds was beaten by Allerton High School, of Leeds, in the final at Wakefield Wildcats' Belle Vue Stadium, Wakefield.

Team members may have missed the main prize, but all of them were given goody bags featuring cinema vouchers, a clock radio and other items.

Entrants were quizzed on issues such as food and health, safety and the environment and law.

The competition was organised by the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service.
