EASTER bonnets went on parade at two Huddersfield schools.

Seventy pupils aged between five and seven let their imaginations run riot on a wild array of headgear at Kirkburton First School.

And Easter-themed hats were modelled by pupils at a Dalton school.

Children in the infant classes at St Joseph's RC Junior, Infant and Nursery School staged an Easter bonnet parade.

The 100 pupils had created the bonnets - which featured bird's nests, fluffy rabbit ears and chick's beaks - at home.

Deputy head Elizabeth Vigurs said: "It was a good event. The children really enjoyed it."

At the Kirkburton school, egg hats, nest hats and even a Grand Prix-themed costume with chickens driving cars were on show.

It was among a number of Easter events. "We have had lots of Easter activities. The children have made all sorts of things," said assistant head Janice Dorrington.

A special church service included The Three Trees, a play for parents.
