YOUNG musicians at Holmfirth High School are taking part in a record-breaking performance attempt.
Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils are in a fundraising Elgar-thon during morning assemblies.
The event, which features Edward Elgar's Land of Hope and Glory, aimed to create a new record for the largest number of children performing the same piece in a single week.
Young performers across the country are taking part in the event, which launches the Coins 4 Notes Appeal.
The appeal is a joint campaign run by the Elgar Birthplace and Sargent Cancer Care for children.
Money raised by the appeal will secure the future of the Elgar Birthplace, now a musical education centre near Worcester, and provide funds for Sargent's Music Therapy programme for children with cancer.
The school is holding a non-uniform day today with proceeds - the target is £1,000 - for Coins 4 Notes.
