TWO schools have received special certificates to mark their fire safety skills.

Pupils from Ashbrow Infant and Nursery School in Sheepridge and Longley School near Huddersfield town centre attended a fire safety day at Asda supermarket in Huddersfield.

But Leading Firefighter Brian Rhodes, of Huddersfield fire station, and Asda events co-ordinator Judith Alderman were so impressed with the children's knowledge of fire safety they have presented both schools with certificates of commendation.

Ashbrow Infants pupil Ray Hill is seen receiving his school's certificate from Mr Rhodes and Mrs Alderman.

Mr Rhodes said: "The safety days focused on firework safety and also included the importance of fire safety in the home. The children did very well and were a credit to their schools."
