PUPILS of a Huddersfield primary school dressed up as peasants, cosmonauts and spies to mark their head teacher's fact-finding mission to Russia.

More than 190 youngsters at Lepton C of E Junior, Infant and Nursery School took part in a Russian day to bid farewell to head teacher Trevor Fox, who is pictured with some of the children.

They enjoyed Russian dancing, baking and learning the language as part of the day.

Mr Fox is one of 10 representatives from schools across Kirklees who have been chosen to travel to the Yaroslavl region, 175 miles from Moscow, to learn about education the Russian way.

The week-long trip, organised by Kirklees Education Service, is designed to develop curriculum links with Russian schools and will see head teachers from Russia visit Huddersfield later in the year.
