ALMONDBURY High School pupils have been putting glitz into Christmas for the sake of charity.
Pupils from all year groups in the school paid 50p to take part in Tinsel Tuesday.
It involved them swapping uniform for costumes fashioned from Christmas decorations.
The pupils with the best costumes were chosen for a parade and prizes were awarded.
The overall winner was Year 9 pupil Annie Witter.
The £500 raised was donated to the Laura Crane Trust, a Huddersfield charity which funds research into cancers affecting teenagers.
Five Year 7 pupils raised an extra £75 for the charity from a seven-mile bike ride.
They were Natalie Newham, Casey Gillman, Shirelle Armstrong, Ratchita Turi and Hannah Baxter.
Staff member Ian Soakell raised £120 for the charity from a 50-mile sponsored run around the boundary of Rotherham on Saturday with his Rotherham-based running club, the Kimberworth Striders.
